Meet Raina Aumar. (Beware of incoming wall of text, feel free to ignore
Daugher to Oreyn, eventual step-daughter to Azyriel, best friend to Thalion, and the last remaining dragon-blood with the ability to shapeshift.
When she was very young, her mother was killed in the war with the humans. Her father, Oreyn, then formed the Caravan to hide amidst those who hunted them so he could keep Raina safe. She was never certain that was the right thing to do. As they traveled the world, they would find others of their kind to join them until they had a whole group of dragonbloods posing as normal human entertainers and merchants. It is Raina that finds Azyriel and Thalion in the forest, she feigns being lost so she can lead them back to the caravan with hopes she could have a playmate in the pointy eared little boy. It worked.
While most women in the caravan enjoy wearing flowing skirts and lots of jewelry that they acquire during their travels, Raina prefers to wear simple leathers. Rather than sitting with the women sewing, she journeys out with the men to hunt. Extremely light on her feet and good with blades she performs knife tricks for the crowds who gather around the carnival the caravan puts on. Raina spends most of her time out exploring with Thalion, enjoying the varying nature across the lands. She prefers the mountains, while Thali prefers the forests, but together they explore it all.
Raina has a terrible temper, she often butts heads with the women of the caravan, including Azyriel. Thalion is the water to her fire and keeps her calm and in control. When she comes of age and realizes she can shapeshift, Thalion is there to convince her that she's not a monster, as the humans would think she is.
After Oreyn exposes himself in an attempt to keep Azyriel from burning an entire town to ashes, Thalion takes throne in his bastard father's place and forces peace into the land. The caravan sets up a permanent home in the mountains to the north of the palace, and Raina visits Thalion regularly. One day Raina returns home to find out humans had murdered her father because they feared what he was. That day Raina and Azyriel finally agreed on something, it was time to give them something to fear.
